More about LASCYPAA
Our speakers are chosen based on our faith in them to carry an AA message which has depth and weight. This message must be based on experience with recovery associated with working the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. LASCYPAA takes recovery seriously, and hopes that the annual convention will be a lively forum for passing along a message of hope, conviction, and love. The members of the a LASCYPAA Convention Committee are committed to following AA's 12 traditions in all its convention-related activities.
OK, that's nice and all. Let's face some facts. For young alcoholics to want to get sober and stay sober, there's got to be some sort of promise of a better life to come. This, for most, would involve fun. LASCYPAA is all about fun. Those of us with a little time under our belts know that sobriety just isn't worth it if you can't, at some point, look back at your former life and say, "I'm glad to be sober." LASCYPAA believes in the fellowship of AA and the love and understanding that comes from frequent contact with other sober people in all our affairs. We're not just convention committee participants; we're friends. We work together; we play together.
One of LASCYPAA's purposes is to unify the fellowship of the host city. We encourage young people from other Louisiana cities to consider bidding to have LASCYPAA at their own local area.

"We have shown how we got out from under. You say, 'Yes, I'm willing. But am I consigned to a life where I shall be stupid, boring and glum, like some righteous people I see? I know I must get along without liquor, but how can I? Have you a sufficient substitute? Yes, there is a substitute and it is vastly more than that. It is a fellowship in Alcoholics Anonymous. There you will find release from care, boredom and worry. Your imagination will be fired. Life will mean something at last. The most satisfactory years of your existence lie ahead. Thus we find the fellowship, and so will you." -Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 152, "A Vision For You" New York: Alcoholics Anonymous World Services Copyright 1939, 1955,1976 |

"Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see a fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends- this is an experience you will not want to miss." -Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 89, "Working With Others" New York: Alcoholics Anonymous World Services Copyright 1939, 1955,1976 |
